Re-envisioning the Future of the Dance Alliance
On October 27th, 2024, the Dance Alliance of Rhode Island (DARI) held a meeting at Metamorphosis Dance Company in Pawtucket to discuss revitalizing the Alliance after the challenges of COVID. This gathering brought together a diverse group from Rhode Island’s dance community, including representatives from higher education, K-12 schools, independent artists, studio owners, and health and dance professionals.
The meeting began with introductions, followed by a brainstorming session where participants identified community needs by writing ideas on sticky notes and organizing them into categories. This collaborative effort highlighted areas for growth and ways the Dance Alliance of Rhode Island could better support the dance community.
From these discussions, several future projects were proposed:
Hosting a Community Event: A celebration to bring the dance community together.
Building a New Board of Directors: Ensuring representation from across the dance community to bring fresh perspectives.
Assessing Needs and Gaps: Identifying challenges to provide resources and advocacy better.
The meeting sparked meaningful conversations and a shared sense of purpose. Attendees expressed enthusiasm for working together to strengthen Rhode Island’s dance community. These initial steps set the stage for exciting developments ahead.
Stay tuned for updates on these projects and ways to get involved in shaping the next chapter of the Dance Alliance of Rhode Island.
